| I live in the DC area, but am on vacation in a high altitude place for a week. I am training for a run, so wanted to run while I was in vacation but had to stop three times today, totally out of breath. Any suggestions for running at a high altitude? Should I go less distance? Just take it slower? I am not here long enough to really get acclimated, but also don't want to take a break since my race is only a month away. |
| Just go slower. Keep it at the same level of effort that you would normally run even though this will be slower. |
| Go slow and keep drinking tons of water. |

Normal. I lived for a few years at 6,000 feet above sea level and never got fully accoustomed.
it was amazing when I came back to the states to visit, felt like i could run for days with all the oxygen. |
