Have you been to Belga Cafe?

What's the atmosphere like? Is it a dress-up kind of place?
Anonymous
No. I wouldn't wear sweats and a baseball cap, but you're fine dressing on the nicer side of casual.

Did you like it?

Have only been for brunch but it was delicious. Very cute place, not super dressy but jeans and a nice shirt would be appropriate.

Wasn't the chef there on Top Chef this season?
Anonymous
yeah, the chef is on the currently televised season of top chef, but he's already been kicked off.

i've been there and thought it was a little overpriced for what it was... but when i tasted a dish at Taste of 8th, it was really delicious.

I've been for dinner and it's very good. Agree with PP that it's a "nice casual" dress place. Fine to wear business clothes too, especially during the week.

It is such good food. We go often. I like to dress up a bit to go there. Also recommend Montmartre at Eastern Market.

I went there recently and they could not poach an egg--took four tries! (I cancelled my order after two, but the waitress insisted).

I was frankly underwhelmed by the food. You do not have to dress up.

Yes I find Belga nice but there are people who adore it. I don't get it. OTOH, I find Monmartre (recommended by a pp) to be consistently wonderful. But it may just be that I'm not into mussels.
