Soy-free cake from scratch

Do you have a recipe to share? Boxed mixes all have soybean oil. Could find a recipe and sub another oil for veg (soy) oil, but would prefer to just use yours if it's tried and true. Thanks!

I haven't made this but a friend did recently and it was divine.

Looks great. Will try someday. For now, also need nut-free.

This is the chocolate cake I make for all our families birthdays. No soy, no oil, no nuts.

Just use decaf coffee if its for kids. You can't taste the coffee in the cake, it just makes it richer:

Yum!

Is soy the only thing it needs to be free of? You can use pretty much any cake recipe if that's the case. Most cake recipes use butter, not margarine or oil.

+1. Depending on the brand, chocolate sometimes has soy lecithin as an emulsifier, so you want to read the ingredient labels carefully.
