I put more faith in what I read in Cochrane reviews than what I read in my local paper or hear on mainstream media.
http://www.cochrane.org/ And here's the opinion of Richard Horton, Editor of The Lancet, July 2010: "Users of the medical literature should start paying more attention to the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews [the database of Cochrane Reviews in The Cochrane Library], and less attention to some better known competitors." Here's a link to a whole page devoted to the flu: http://www.thecochranelibrary.com/details/collection/978807/Influenza-evidence-from-Cochrane-Reviews.html |
| I appreciate Cochrane because they cut through bad research, but there's also a long lag time. There's been so much amazing work on the gut-brain connection lately, for instance, and anyone affected by related disorders can't wait for Cochrane to accumulate enough to work with. |
