Looking for an OB/GYN Rec in Rockville

Anonymous
Not pregnant yet but hoping to be within the year. I moved to the area recently so figure it makes sense to see an OB -knowing I'll be pg- that is great with pre-natal care. I'm in Rockville and would like to see an OB in the area. Recommendations for offices and/or specific doctors are requested.

Thanks in advance!

I use Capital Women's Care (Dr. Tran, Renzi, & Apgar). They are located beside Shady Grove Hospital. I have been very happy with them.

Robert Footer has an office on Montrose near the JCC. Very experienced, accommodating, and has a great bedside manner.

I highly recommend Dr. Ron Jacobs of OBGYN Associates in Silver Spring (in the new physicians building at Holy Cross Hospital). He's Jewish -- and he's the greatest doctor hands down (in fact, I wish I could clone him and have all my doctors have his disposition). He is one of the more seasoned doctors in the practice -- the other veteran doc is Dr. Brad Kleinman (also Jewish, also great). The other doctors are younger and female -- and also fabulous. For me, it comes down to experience and bedside manner. Dr. Jacobs genuinely cares about his patients and bonds not only with them but also with their spouses. He delivered my 2nd child and I saw him exclusively throughout the pregnancy. He isn't one of those doctors who rush you out the door -- he takes time to thoroughly answer questions. He's also very conservative in his approach -- ie: he'll order a sono or bloodwork "just in case" (which I often needed if only to reassure me that everything was going well after having miscarried once before). The office is large, but it has a full lab and sono techs on-site (which is super convenient -- I couldn't imagine having to schedule sonos and bloodwork separately and wait to hear results). Good luck to you. (OBGYN Assoc. 301/681-6772)
