| DH has a business trip to Orlando in April. I'm debating whether it's worth it to take 3 year old DS to Disney or another pricey theme park by myself. (Yes I would be paying for him--I saw the other thread). He is currently 37 inches tall--only big enough to go on a small percentage of the rides and he would not be into waiting in line. Based on the guidebook I'm reading I'm thinking no, it's not worth it. It's not the money so much, but whether it's worth the effort versus enjoying the nice hotel pool. I've never been to Disney so have no first hand experience. What do you think? |
| Our 2.5 yer old loved it. He went on most of the rides (small world, Peter pan, dumbo, etc). He loved seeing the characters. |
| I would. 3 years old is the perfect age to go together. |
| Try Legoland -- more things designed for small people. |
| Our 3 year old liked it. He liked the rides, but was really more excited about seeing the characters. |

At 3, you are going for your own memory of the experience, but it is very much worth it in my opinion. The earliest we took our sons was 7 and 9 months, and the pictures with the characters are priceless.
I would stick to Magic Kingdom and only do 1 or 2 days, depending on the length of the trip. Enjoy! |

Legoland is not good for younger kids as they have stricter height restrictions on rides than Disneyworld. Your three year old would not be able to ride many of the rides. Disneyworld would be fine for a three year old. I suggest going to touringplans.com. They have strategies for getting through the park with younger kids. I used their app this past fall when I took my 4 and 6 year old and we had a great time.

There is almost nothing a three yoear old can do at legoland, and the things they can do are very boring. Legoland is for 5-9 year old kids. No one else. |
| If its not about the money, then I say yes. My guess is the hotel swimming pool will hold more appeal, but the parades are so fun for the kids. Mine didn't like the rides at age three. |

Rides a 3 year old can do in Magic Kindgom:
Adventureland: Jungle Cruise Tiki Room Robinson Tree House Pirates of the Carribean Fantasyland: Dumbo Little Mermaid Peter Pan Philharmagic Carousel Tea Cups Tomorrowland: Peoplemover Buzz Lightyear space ranger Monsters Inc Laugh Floor Carousel of Progress Speedway (little cars) Liberty: Hall of Presidents (Animated show) Steam Boat Frontierland Tom Sawyer Island Countybear Jamboree Main street has shops and stuff too. It's a good time. Do it for you. |

Like a pp suggested, I would go and stick with Magic Kingdom. You can add on Animal Kingdom if your son likes animals. 3 is a great age for an introduction to Disney. At that age, they find everything magical.
Just a note: We went in December and our daughter turned 4 while there. She was not a fan of the 3-D shows and fireworks (too loud/scary). Just wanted to point that out in case your son is easily spooked. |
| There will only be a few rides your son won't be able to ride, and he probably wouldn't want to ride them if he could. As to whether it's worth it - it's really about whether it's worth it to you. He will have fun for sure - but will you enjoy it? Will you get a kick out of taking him on the rides (even if you have to wait in lines) and watching him interact (or not) with characters. I took my three and five-year old and I had a lot of fun watching them enjoy the experience, so it was worth it to me, even though they probably won't remember much of it. It's also a good age for character interactions - my kids got a huge kick out of it. If you do go, arrive at park opening - it's amazing how empty the parks are at that time. You can get on a lot of rides with little wait. |
| We took our almost 3 year old last fall and he had a blast. I will say that we tried to go first thing each morning for two days and stayed 4-5 hours until naptime. We did not try to spend the whole day there. Make liberal use of the EasyPass system - this helps so much so you don't have to wait forever with a young child. |
| Our 3 year old loved it and had a fantastic time. The best age to go. |
Good age to go, especially if they can do the day without a nap. Just a side note, they may not remember this trip when they get older (unless maybe you remind them of it every day of their lives . Have fun!!
