Bowe Bergdahl

Anonymous
What can I say Bowe is a product of a very conservative family. When he got to Afghanistan and saw how moronic our policy was, he went crazy. He couldn't reconcile his conservative beliefs with reality on the ground. His mind caved in. That doesn't mean we leave him to rot with the Taliban

I can't believe that conservatives are piling on a POW. The guy's welcome home was canceled, they are getting death threats.

At least the liberals learned the lesson of how to treat returning soldiers after Vietnam.

You mean the liberals are not going to repeat what they did in Vietnam?
The conservatives did not treat Vietnam vets the way the liberals did. The conservatives are supporting our soldiers.

the three main issues here with this release seem to be

Obama not notifying congress (I understand there is nuance here but lets for the sake of argument say he didn't follow protocol)

Giving up the 5 Taliban for his release

the administration portraying bergdahl as serving honorably

everything else being thrown out there is complete and utter nonsense. the military doesn't pick and choose who to rescue and determine the severity of what is given up based on that soldiers record. to operate like that is stupid if you really think about it. plus, I cant see this country deciding not to save someone because of accusations of being a bad soldier. unless he was classified as AWOL or a deserter, which he was not, nothing says the US should not have tried to rescue him.

and the hypocrisy is insane. the articles on how one day you wanting Obama's head cause hes not trying to save berghal to now you wanting his head because he did what you wanted all along, isn't worth getting into.

the best some of you can do is stick to very simple and actual things that are wrong with this episode. some of you cloud your arguments with false stories and utter nonsense. there are actual things you can argue that are wrong or weird about this without getting all foamy at the mouth. im sure reasonable liberals/democrats can agree to disagree with you respectfully and we can move on.

Deserter who got serveral non-deserting service members killed looking for him while he was AWOL?

Stop calling him a POW. He deserted his post and wandered into Taliban territory - what did he think would happen?

The issue of Bergdahl's desertion has to be settled after DUE PROCESS. He is innocent until proven guilty. No one deserves the right to a fair trail more than a US soldier!

If Obama failed to follow the law with regard to notification or other procedures regarding the release or the exchange, then he should be held accountable for that.

I think the IRS and Benghazi scandals are largely manufactured. But if Obama did this without following the law.... then I admit that is a REAL scandal. I agree that this needs to be investigated and all the facts brought to light. If the President had the authority to make the trade then there's nothing to see here. Don't like it, get another President who does not deal with terrorists, Like GWB or Reagan. Oh wait....

I've really come to believe that conservatives hate America. They see it as a place where it's necessary to carry a gun to defend their homes or potentially over throw the government.

They don't hate America. They hate Americans who are not like them. They hate minorities and poor people, and generally don't think highly of women. They don't like non-Christians.

That's why they think the current govt needs to be overthrown - all this protection of historically disadvantaged groups threatens their privilege and control.

I view myself as a Conservative voter re fiscal issues, and you have in no way described me--or those who share my views. I'm also a Christian and a southerner and an educator who doesn't even remotely hate minorities and poor people. You've made some astonishingly ignorant generalizations here.

Just calling it like I see it. Whatever your professed beliefs, the actual laws proposed by the Republican Party and rhetoric used by Republican lawmakers suggest this hatred to me. If you find it objectionable, perhaps you can lobby them to change their platforms.

Different Conservative here. None of what you say above is true. It is a storyboard that has been created by the very far left.

Most Republicans are not racists. However, most racists are Republicans.

The most liberal person I know complains about the "little brown people" all the time. She works in a school.

Forgot to say that she always votes Democrat. She would say she is not bigoted. I don't know if her actions reflect her words, but her words are troubling at times.
