Does anyone else think that Kate Middleton's wedding dress was a little dull?

No, it wasn't that she was relatable. It was her charisma and sense of style for the time which cannot be explained to someone from a later generation. It was her grace and the fact that she tried to do so much good in the world when it really wasn't required of her. There was something special about her. She genuinely cared. You had to be there. And be old enough to get it.

Umm Diana was a princess, pretty sure they are basically required to do charity work. What else was she going to do, become a day trader? And how on earth do you know that Diana genuinely cared? I find the Diana worship just so bizarre - she was born rich, became famous because she had the right breeding and looks for Charles to marry her, and died young in a stupid and pointless way. Yes, she did charity, just like every rich socialite does charity. She may have been a nice person, I didn't know her, but I meet people every day who I find to be more impressive.

Why do you log on to your computer, get onto this site, scroll through dozens of posts, select this thread, compose this tiresome post about how much more evolved you are than everyone else who has a fondness for the royals or a passing interest in the recent wedding? Stop trying to kill the thread with a holier than thou attack. So boring and predictable. I'm the PP who was defending Diana but I was definitely not upset! (I'm not the PP you are responding to here though.) I kind of liked Diana- that's about it. So I tried to explain to a person who didn't think she was pretty or charming or that she had a sense of style. You did come down on me pretty hard for that. This is just a silly discussion- don't really think anyone cares all that much except for maybe a few people who seem to be in love with Kate...

Combined, did not pull-off as 'classy' but looked a bit thrift shop to me. She shoulda gone glam:Rule No.1 in any mega royal wedding.

I'm pretty sure the monarchy has not kept going along and dividing and conquering for nearly 1500 years by going along with the latest "glam" fashion. Just my opinion here, but I think the crown is all about tradition ([i]hello, the all live in castles and lead traditional English Country Estate shabby chic lives!) I don't think the give a rat's a** about the latest glamorous fashion and in fact they would not have survived very long if they did.

I think Beatrice has a great sense of humor and is having a little fun with being royalty. And she is probably pissed off that her mom wasn't invited to the wedding. She is William's aunt after all. Don't feel sorry for her- she's a hoot and she knows it.

I agree completely that Beatrice's hat was worn just to "take the piss out" of her royal cousins for not inviting their mother. British humor being very dry and ironic, the joke was subtle enough to be hugely funny without being directly insulting.

All of you commenting on the hat are wrong. She actually had nothing to do with the design. Phillip Treacy did the whole thing, only knowing what her dress was like. Thats what he does...create things. he has come out to defend the hat as well.

I know, just clarifying. I wonder if she paid for it though...alot of times the designers will make it free so their name is associated and the "royalty" in this case wears it to promote them. I would think she felt obligated to wear it. But who knows Im sure she thought she looked amazing in it!

I thought the hat fit well with Beatrice's eccentric personality. She and her sister may not be cookie cutter doll-like like Kate and Pippa but I think they are quite lovely girls nonetheless.
