Is Emory a Top Choice For Anyone?

These are such strange comments. 200 miles from Atlanta includes I guess Birmingham and Chattanooga but no other cities…other than of course Atlanta.

Considering the northeast is actually the #1 geography for Emory students…I guess most of those kids are legacy? That seems unlikely.

Not that PP but doesn't it also include Athens, Georgia?

My dd applied ed to Emory and LOVES it. Wasn’t looking for rah rah. Loves the campus, people, professors. She’s not a party girl but is very social and studies a lot.

This board is overrun by obnoxious pricks looking to put down everything and everyone other than themselves. Emory is a top 25 school with a great campus and a great student body. Does anyone choose it over Harvard and Stanford? No, probably not. But there are many extremely happy students there who had zero interest in many schools that are ranked above it, but have very different vibes. I sincerely hope that no one reads this thread and thinks less of Emory, rather than less of the d-bags who pollute this board with their noxious vomit.

Only 3k apply ed. 30k apply RD. You're trying to make a point thats not logically sound. Do you do that often?

The schools they go to are ranked lower and have no chance at T25. Thats what their upset about they with their school had Emory's spot especially GT grads.

Lol many ED applicants, round 1 and round 2. Sorry you didnt get in.

yes many who knew they had no shot at top 20 privates

schools all more selective and desirable than emory:

ivies
chicago
northwestern
duke
hopkins
caltech
mit
stanford
vandy
rice
wustl
nd

ND is less selective than Emory, likely more desirable. WashU is the same selectivity, and less desirable.

OK - you win. It's fantastic! Can we move on now?

Did you start this thread? Someone is trying to convince us a thread to bash Emory is somehow Emory boosters fault...

Seriously. So many threads right now are devolving into opportunities to crap on really good schools for seemingly no reason.

+100, it was most likely started by a GaTech mom or student. As an Atlanta native, I know when they're around. The second half of the thread has way too many GT references; the Emory bashers are obsessed with the fact that it doesn't have an engineering program or is "STEM lite." Also, they point to things many outside of Georgia wouldn't know, like the SAT scandal from over a decade ago, among other things. GT grads are very pompous but are frustrated that they aren't even the best school in a 20-mile radius, let alone the region. In this thread, they went from bashing Emory to asking whether Emory and GT should merge. It's very transparent.

WashU has lower admit rate than Emory

GT doesn’t think about Emory.

GT doesn’t think about Emory.

That's a lie, and the thread proves that. Trust the last thing Emory or its students want is a merger with GT, and it's something that would never be discussed on campus.
