Is Murch the school that serves upper Connecticut Ave? |
I was wondering that as well. Maybe if enough people from other wards move in, the city will finally give Ward 3 residents the same access to PreK3 as other wards have. Maybe Ward 3 will finally get a fitness center like the city builds in the rest of the city, too. Take a look at this map, and notice the big gaping Ward 3 size hole: https://dpr.dc.gov/page/dpr-fitness-centers Every one of the 29 fitness centers the city has built has been east of 16th st. I always laugh at the people who talk about Ward 3 having massive political capital, as it's obvious they know absolutely nothing about the city. |
They might put a DC fitness center next to Hearst pool to make it a year-round DPR facility. |
Yes |
Top to bottom, Connecticut Ave. has zones for Lafayette, Murch, Hearst, and Eaton, Oyster Adams ending downtown with SWW/Francis Stevens. |
Eaton is the designated host school for the Cathedral Commons homeless shelter. |
Anyone who lives on Connecticut north of Military goes to Lafayette. |
Well, considering my kid stayed remote while kids “furthest from opportunity” got to attend our Ward 3 school in person, I don’t think this will benefit most of the Ward 3 residents. |
Fairly small population in the wealthy school though. |
| A UDC police car was just stolen. In broad daylight on Connecticut Avenue. |
Its chaos, chaos I say! |
Why does UDC have a police car? and where was the UDC policeman? |
At this point it just gets funny. How much will skyrocketing interest rates at just the perfect to save the city at just the perfect time to trap people who wish they could leave? |
You really don’t know what you’re talking about. For one thing, of all the Ward 3 elementary schools, Eaton has the largest percentage of students who live outside the school boundary area. (The homeless shelter is within the boundaries.) When Eaton was renovated and expanded a few years ago, DCPS made a deliberate choice to build significantly more capacity than what was needed to serve the projected in-boundary population (in part because other schools’ capacity to absorb more OB students was limited). Eaton serves a more economically diverse population than people think. |
A UDC “cop”? Probably dozing somewhere or getting coffee. |
