DP. The 503 poster is right. The info is right here:

So, 47 dropouts? |
hopefully fixed the link. https://schoolprofiles.fcps.edu/schlprfl/f?p=108:107::105:::P0_CURRENT_SCHOOL_ID,P0_EDSL:300,0 |
That number will include kids whose families moved and left the county as well as kids who returned to their base school. This sounds like pretty normal attrition for a demanding school in a region where people move a lot. |
Half of 100+ dropout number was blunted by the TJ admissions doing outreach for froshmore 10th grade applications at the top schools from merit students, same students that were denied as freshman by essay lottery admissions |
about how many froshmores are admitted to 10th grade? |
DP. You keep changing your numbers. I don't believe anything you're posting. |
Why the number was much lower in the old admissions system then? |
Families moved a lot during and after pandemic. |
TJ families began relocating from Northern Virginia to more favorable cities, taking advantage of the pandemic-driven work-from-home option. Approximately 85 TJ families made this move, with an additional 5 to 10 returning to their base schools, a typical annual attrition. Unlikely these were Algebra 1 students alone. Factoring in the admissions of 30 to 40 froshmores, the net deficit amounts to 47 fewer students for overall class. While this might seem like a tall tale, it is indeed a fact. |
I don’t either. Idiots with an axe to grind are common on this forum but they win the prize. |
Class of 2023 had 44 net loss by junior year
Class of 2021 had 50 |
Class of 2024 had a net loss of 41 by sophomore year |
Class of 2020 had a net loss of 40 by junior year
I’ll update my spreadsheet with the data from the last couple of years when I get home. Should be interesting. I’m curious how many are left for class of 2024. They started with 486 and were already down to 445 by April 2022. |
