FCV 2007

Sending a bunch of players to W&M because you have ties there but the team is awful, or sending them to GMU where the coaches wife is head coach is meaningless. Once the US scout’s daughter leaves, FCV will have no direct line to NTC training and the player pool will continue to decline. Just look at how mediocre-awful the teams are in the younger age groups.

What is this about ? Saw on another thread

Invitation only, intimate, no-parents 1-on-1 training session with FCV coaches at their beach house. What else would it be?

Is it the same coach who was caught cuddling on a couch with a player who is offering the special training? So much class at that club.

Is that the FCV coach who got a matching tattoo with a teenage player?

I read that FCV is funneling all of their players towards VMI?

The same one who shared a hotel room with a player?

The sad part is that much of it is true.

And with allegations this serious it is necessary that all of it is true not most of it.

As a parent and not a coach or club administrator, i am concerned if ANY of it is true.

Of course, but the truth on these boards is hard to come by. Once people start exaggerating or speculating about things that may or may not have happened then it becomes harder to believe any of the allegations. It is not enough to simply say, "where there is smoke there is fire" with the seriousness of the allegations when they are made anonymously.

With the Richie Burke issue at FCV a parent actually stated it publicly and stood by their claims. They have since been vindicated. No such parent or player has been brave enough to step forward regarding any of the anonymous allegations thrown around on these boards.

So certainly, it is absolutely a red flag to consider, but it is unfortunate that if these things are true that nobody has publicly come forward. Perhaps they will in the future if they know that other kids may be in harms way but it is their personal decision. But by the same hand, they are nothing more than rumors and should be treated as such until any harmed party actually comes forward.

BP - what's the "Richie Burke issue at FCV"?

That he used racial and homophobic slurs with his boys team and one particularly targeted player's parents spoke out about it. Essentially the same act that he did at Spirit. FCV never seemed to take the allegations seriously and he obviously got promoted by being hired by a pro team run by a former youth sport youth coach and director. Then FCV goes and hires one of RB's subordinates who was essentially let go for some similar behavior.

In light of the parents public accusations there is nothing surprising about his behavior or ousting at Spirit. So in short, he did it to both boys and professional women.

So FCV certainly has a pattern of overlooking "bad behavior". TT certainly can be redeemed and deserves a second chance but if I'm FCV I wouldn't touch that lightning rod knowing the close relationship with tarnished Spirit staff already.
