Kitchen remodeling suggestions

We need new floors counters and cabinets. Got a quote from one company but the starting numbers were out of our budget. We would like to stay under 25 k. Any suggestions of who to work with?

Anyone?

I know a super master plumber.
I am also liking the style of open shelving.
More efficient and economical.
But granted, not for everyone.

Home Depot. If you doubt the quality you can go take a look at the samples in the store and work with their designer. We did a complete medium-sized kitchen (maple cabinets, ceramic floor, Corian counters) for less than 20k.

We found Home Depot to be very expensive. We got our floors (hard wood) from Lumber Liquidators - they did installation too and our cabinets from solidwoodcabinets.com. They dont have a ton of options but the ones they have are fantastic quality and super reasonably priced. They were half the price of the HD cabinets with all the extras.

Not the OP, but thanks for the cabinet store info!

We got ours from Lowes and had our handyman install them. They were a perect fit.

I was a little offended when companies would say 50-60 K just to order some cabinets, put in flooring and hang cabinets up. The designers at the cabinet stores do a very good job. Just be extra certain that you have measured correctly, and allowed for the doors to open. The designer will probably do that for you, but it never hurts to double check. Good luck!

read the recent thread on ikea kitchen installers. For less than 25k, I think you can get a fabulous kitchen. with good counters like quartz and new floors might push it close to that price, but it would still be awesome.

Go to Lowe's and look at Diamond cabinets. If you like them, go to kitchens for less online. They sell them MUCh cheaper. I saved a lot of money. I was worried about just working with a company online but I swear they are the same cabinets. I did have to do the layout myself but you could get Lowe's to help and then just buy some appliances there to be fair (since you are making them do a layout to show you their cabinets that you are not buying from them!)
It is a little more work but I really did save thousands.

We went thru Cabinet Discounters. I found them better than Home Depot. We did cabinets/ counter for under 25K, did not do floor or change appliances.

Care to share his/her name? Hard to come by super plumbers nowadays.

I'm not the PP, and I believe my rec is a master plumber, not a super master, but we loved Barney Gidders. He just did some regular plumbing for us, but we're thinking of using him for the plumbing work in our kitchen remodel.

+1

Find an independent contractor to do the labor. It will be MUCH cheaper than using a company.

If I can get a copy of the plan, I can get you pricing that is much cheaper than the big box stores as well as the custom stores.
