I had a delicious chocolate cake yesterday and I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS!

I was at a birthday recently at Piola in Arlington and I had a delicious birthday cake. It was chocolate, but sort of light and creamy (there was some sort of cream in it?) and there were chocolate shavings. I looked at their website and I don't think the cake on there is it. I have a hard time finding a chocolate cake that I actually like and I want to know what this was! I want to find a recipe! I feel like if I ask the guy who threw the party I am going to seem... piggy-ish. This is a big dilemna for me, people! Does someone have any idea what cake I am talking about? I like to bake but I'm not very educated about various foods and recipes...

I don't think it's piggyish if you tell someone that you enjoyed the food at their party so much you'd like to know where it came from.

He knows you ate the cake, right? You don't have to pretend like you didn't.

sounds like chocolate mousse cake. google it.

If you really do feel embarrassed about asking, just phrase it as "I'm throwing a party soon and would love to serve the same cake - where did you get it?" Or claim it's an office birthday, so you don't have to explain not inviting your friend to this imaginary party

OP if I were the party thrower I would be flattered that you like the cake so much. Go ahead and ask him!

Just ask him!

FYI, Watergate Bakery does a delicious mouse cake. You can get the outside with dark or white chocolate shavings:

I would just ask your host.

I think it's way more flattering than piggish, that you asked.

OP here... I will see them next weekend so I will ask... I think it is a chocolate mousse cake, but a very very good one. It's very hard to find a cake that's not too heavy, moist, but not too moist, just right for dessert. I'm very picky. This cake was just right!
