Another slow cooker question

Anonymous
Okay, I bought the Crock-Pot brand slow cooker recommended in the America's Test Kitchen cookbook. Now I'm wondering if it's too big. We're only four people. I saw on the year of slow cooking blog that she recommends a corning ware dish to insert in a slow cooker for smaller recipes. Does anyone do that?

Do you like leftovers or not? That is the question.

Which one did they recommend? We have a regular old $20 rival one and it gives us about two lunches worth of leftovers (two adults one four year old). Good size because we love leftovers for lunch!

It's the Crock Pot Touchscreen Technology 6.5 qt. It's the 79.99 on Amazon and at BBB (but 20 off with the coupon). I originally bought the wrong one at BBB (the 54.99 one). I was going to keep it but the reviews online weren't great. So I exchanged it for the other more expensive one. The recipes that come with it seem pretty good. The ones in the ATK book seem to have lots of extra ingredients and recommend adding a bread/milk mixture to the browning meat. I'm going to try it tomorrow.

We are 4 people with a 6-quart crock pot. We cook large fishes and then freeze half and eat it two weeks later. Love it.

6 doesn't seem too big to me, but my brother has an 8-qt, and he says he has burned several things in it due to lack of liquid. I think if you have a large crock-pot, you have to make sure you have enough liquid, so you may want to 1.5x the recipies.

And if America's Test Kitchens approves, it's going to be good.

I just got this one to replace my previous one that was the same exact size. It will be perfect for most crockpot recipes you will find. We are two adults and almost always have enough leftovers to put 2 servings in fridge and freeze a few servings. But I'm ok with that. Get the ATK slow cooker revolution cookbook!!
