Hi ladies, I read some of your posts online and am hoping I could get your help with ideas for a fun night out for my younger sister (11 years younger)
who is getting married. We are hosting her bachelorette in DC as she lives in Alexandria. Would love any great restaurants or fun bar recos if you could pass along. Thanks so much for your help! |
You could do the chef's table at Society Fair in Old Town for dinner. |
PX speakeasy in Old Town. In DC, PS7 is a good bar for drinks. You could do a tapas place for dinner like Jaleo, Zatinya, or Masa 14. |
Thank you so much for quick reply! Loving the suggestions-keep them coming! ![]() Do you think Old Town is "too quiet" for a bach party or do you think we should venture into DC. I definitely don't want to go anywhere too cheesy either... since there will be a few of us in our mid 30s who are kind of over the clubby scene. ![]() |
Also-are there places in Old Town where you can "dance" if wanted? |
PX would be great. Make reservations though. Start early. |
Old Town's not a very dancy sort of place (I live there). There's one place I know of where you can dance - the Bayou Room, http://www.yelp.com/biz/bayou-room-alexandria.
PX is a great suggestion - it's a little speakeasy, make reservations - if you want to stay in Old Town. Old Town is gorgeous and walkable and full of restaurants and bars. So if your sister lives there, then she - like me! - might like it there. But it's definitely not a sort of cool, hip, fashionny nightlife sort of place. |
What is PX scene like? What time do you suggest? |
You could take the ferry to National Harbor and go to the piano bar there. Also, if in the summer, National Harbor is pretty lively.
I love love love Old Town, but agree that it really isn't a "dancy" kind of place. But you could do a nice dinner in Old Town, then take the ferry to National Harbor for something more fun... This assumes the party isn't in the dead of winter. If that is the case, I suggest a flight to Miami. |
I love Old Town also and think that could be just fine as far as the vibe. Going out in DC might be a nice change of pace for her but was thinking of getting a couple of hotel rooms at the Hotel Monaco for the girls and that way we could just walk to various places and not worry about transportation? |
There's also dancing at Aqua.
The water taxi is closed until March 1. Great idea to stay at Hotel Monaco, perfect location. |
If you stay at Hotel Monaco, I recommend the brunch at Poste, the restaurant downstairs. |
Right now we are planning on mid April or early June...
What is the weekend crowd at the "dancey" places in national harbor/old town. |
In old town there is dancing at the Bayou Room, Light Horse, Flying Fish (downstairs), Aqua Viva
|
Thanks again for your help! Has anyone used Nail Taxi in your area?
Feel free to pass along any other suggestions! ![]() |
