I am anti-badge. Those mostly serve to drive traffic to the website that provides the badge. But, I am pretty diligent about removing copyright violations that I discover or that are reported to me. In fact, I think you would find few websites that take as hard of line. I don't think we have a "cage" issue given that nobody knows what cage anyone else is in. As for cruelty, that's sort of in the eye of the beholder and we have two other threads on that topic now. I certainly support treating others as you would like to be treated. The problem is that some folks have a lot higher tolerance levels than others.
