Logan Montesorri Middle School

Since Logan will now go through 8th grade, do you think they will take any new, non-montessori kids in 6th grade? I hear they have big problems retaining kids in late elementary. Now some of this may stop because now these families have a middle school solution. Some of it will continue because what was a good fit for a family with a 3 year old maybe different than for a 12 year old.

The school has always had a problem with transparency and their wait list. I think in order for the middle school to be viable they should consider taking new kids in 5th or 6th grade.

They won't even take 5 year olds without a montessori backgroud, so I doubt that they would take 6th graders.

Which basically dooms the school to a middle school of 30 kids. The best students will leave for Latin, Basis and maybe Hardy and Hobson. They will be left with the harder to educate and those whose families bombed the lottery. And a few who are deeply commited to Montessori.

Our child is in primary classes at Logan and I worry about this as well. I am on one hand excited to have the option, but am worried that resources and staff will be spread too thin and would prefer to see a focus on making the elementary program as good as the primary. Hopefully it will all continue to improve and the addition will be a positive one. Time will tell.

For enrollment, I don't expect there will be many 'middle school' kids there, it will be mostly about the ones who are already there and the young ones who will continue to enter the school and stay if the program is good enough.
