Step 1. Get a job as a nanny
Step 2. See step 1 |
Not necessarily. Most nannies start off as a babysitter and work their way up. |
| I started babysitting when I was 11 or 12. In high school, I was a summer nanny. I also did this during the summer in college. I worked as a FT nanny for a few yrs in between college and grad school as well as after grad school before I found a teaching job. If you have the money, there is a governess school somewhere in the Midwest. After a year there, you can find very high end nanny/governess jobs through them. My friend did this and she makes BIG bucks now as a nanny. She travels all over the world with the family. |

Experience with children and find a job as one
Attend a nanny school such as northwest nannies institute or the Alexandria school. |
| OP you must really lack ambition. Why would you want to do that? |
| That's really sad that people think that childcare is a profession for people who lack ambition. |
| Go the the Nanny Forums. Totally different forum than this one. Look at the very top of the page, and you'll see it. |
Seriously? Do you not know what the nannies who work for the high up agencies make a year? I have two interviews lined up in the next 2 weeks in NYC and both are paying $60,000/year and $75,000/year. Nannies now a days don't make minimum wage... |
seriously!!! i really hope that poster is not a parent!!!
|
| My friend works as a nanny for some very rich people in CA and she makes nearly double what I make as a teacher w/ a Master's and nearly 10 yrs of experience. |
| There are some training programs and certifications that might help to get. |
