Why isn't the DC Government setting up free Flu shot clinics???

Anonymous
This needs to be done. We have 6 people in our family-- going to the pediatrician for this will be very expensive (insurance covers NOTHING). Not to mention being exposed to large groups of sick kids in a tiny waiting room of our peds office! 2 years ago they did them at large gymnasiums in public school--what is the hold up this year? Are they waiting for people to start dying off? BAH!

So the government owes you fee flu shots? Seriously?

Are you sure your insurance won't cover anything? Flu shots are covered under the Affordable Care Act. Do you have insurance through your or your spouse's employer?

why should the government pay for that? How about some personal responsiblity?

They aren't doing it because they don't have the money.

The year of the h1n1 flu scare, there was federal funding for those clinics.

During H1N1, they had clinics because there was a vaccine shortage and they were controlling the situation so the most vulnerable groups got treated first. There are plenty of flu shots available this year and they have been available since September. You should only have to pay your co-pay. If you get the shot at Safeway, you get a 10% off coupon for one shop for each flu shot. With six people, you should be doing enough shopping that you will get most of your money back. You are the one who waited until the height of flu season to handle this instead of doing so moths ago.

So you think that going to the pediatrician's office will expose you to sick people, but standing in a crowded gymnasium is a-ok? Alrighty then.

And, vaccinations should be covered under your insurance. This is the law.

Is it because the flu shot doesn't really work?

Because it's not the government's job to take care of people.

Wow. You really sound like an idiot. Please stop having kids.

Uhm, they already give free (or very cheap) vaccinations all over the country through health departments. They have sliding scales based on incomes. I have no idea what kind of insurance you have or why it wouldn't cover something like this. Get informed before you start panicking.

There's some serious flu panic going around.

Call the DC Dept of Health and ask if they offer flu shots anywhere.
