Leisure World experience

I would love to hear from anyone with experience at Leisure World. My MIL is thinking of moving to the area and buying a condo. I thought that might be a good fit for her since there are lots of amenities and she could more easily make friends.

My great aunt lives there -- she's independent, and owns a SFH. It was an adjustment for her at first, because she felt like she was around old people all the time. She's 92 .

Then my uncle died and she's really happy to be there, because they have activities all the time and a place to go eat with people, but she can also stay home if she wants.

My in-laws sold their house and moved to Leisure World the second that they retired. They've been there for over 15 years and have loved it. They travel abroad often so they like that they can just lock up the apartment and go. They socialize with other residents and take walks. They also rent a garden plot.

What is the "average" age there? Would a 73 year old widow acclimate well or is it still very couples oriented?

My 71 yo mother lives there alone. She is very happy and active. She plays bridge; uses the pool and goes to the dances. I nome that since I am nearing 55 I'll be joining her soon.
