how do you take a baby in a taxi in NYC? we have a trip there next week (a last minute emergency trip) and dont know what to do, as we will need to take taxis to get around to appts, etc
and speaking of NYC - is it better to fly into LaGuardia or Kennedy? tia |

Is baby still in infant seat? You can use the seatbelt with that. If baby is too big and is in convertible seat, then you can bring seat with you. Honestly, I ended up just have my son in taxi without a seat. It was also last minute (ill family member) and I was travelling alone and couldn't handle bringing a seat. From my discussions with NY moms, alot of people do that regularly. I was wary about it, but it was a one shot deal. I have flown into both regularly for work, gotta say I prefer LaGuardia for convenience.

| Thanks so much - LaGuardia it is and I wont sweat the carseat. I mean, it sucks, but he is in a convertible (he's 1-1/2) and I dont think i'll be dragging that with me. We are also going a last min doc appt. |
| Don't take the carseat. It's a pain. I was in NYC with my 8m.o a couple of weekends ago and used http://www.kidcarny.com/ They come equipped with the appropriate car seat. The drivers are very helpful and assist with all the luggage. You have to strap your baby in yourself, of course. Worked very well for us. They were there at Penn Stn. to pick us up. All you have to do is sign up over the phone with a credit card and make a reservation. |

Definitely Laguardia. When we were in NYC last year we had our kids w/o car seats in the car. I really hated to do it and I will look up the service mentioned about for our next trip.

I just did a trip to LaGuardia with a convertible car seat. Both cabs had Latch hooks, so it was very easy to hook in the car seat. Since Latch was required on all cars since 2002 and cabs turn over very quickly, I would expect that almost all NYC cabs have Latch attachments.

We lugged the carseat and then took public transport once we were in town.
We weren't willing to take the risk of having a baby without a car seat. Yeah, people do it all the time - not us, though. |
