Good morning all:
I am a day late and took a pregnancy test this morning, which came back positive--barely. By barely, I mean there were definitely two lines but one was VERY faint. The instructions read that one line may be lighter but it is really, really light. What I am wondering is, does the test (and therefore faintness of the lines) detect the amount of pregnancy hormone or just that you have the hormone, period. I have had two chemical pregnancies in the past year and don't want to get all excited about this...just in case! I looked on the manufacturer's web site but this issue isn't addressed. Thanks for any insight you may have! |
I'm pretty sure they test the amount of the hormone.
My first p-test, 2 days before expected date of period, had a very faint line as well...and then the line got darker over the next few days on subsequent tests. congrats!! |
Definitly the amount of hormone. You are newly pregnant. It will get darker as the days to by.
CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!! |
I had chemicals as well so I know how you feel. Here's what I did - take one first thing every morning to make sure the line gets darker. I did that for a while - very reassuring when it does. Best of luck and ![]() |
My lines were darker in the afternoon than in the morning, but maybe it is just me.

My first pregnancy the line was faint and I called the doc's office to see if that meant it was a positive test. They told me they couldn't tell for sure and wanted me to come in for a blood test. I would call the doc's office and see if they could have you come in for a blood test. That way you would know. |
Congratulations!
If you see a line I think it is fair to say you are pregnant. If you test again tomorrow it should be stronger. I tested 3 or 4 days late and there was no denying the outcome! |
If you can, go buy another test, ept or one of the digital that clearly say pregnant or not.
I took 4 of the first responce test and all had a bearly visible 2nd line. I took ept and there it was - a nice big + sign, and no more doubts. We have a 3rd one on the way ![]() |
same thing happened to me for my first pregnancy. The line will get darker as time goes by! Congrats!! |
A line is a line - it wouldn't show up at all if you weren't pregnant. Congratulations! If you take another test a day or so later it will show up darker and more quickly... |
OP, any updates? Give yourself a few days to let it sink in and then go get a bloodtest, that way they can measure the amount of hormone and you have a base value for the next bloodtest. |
