| am looking for toy suggestions for my ds who needs a lot of tummy time still. He has not rolled over yet and I am constantly looking for good toys to keep him excited and interested in tummy time and rolling over. He did roll over once last week but hasn't done it since...I want to avoid going to physical therapy if possible. any toy ideas (either for use on tummy or not) would be greatly appreciated. thanks |
| I am sure these are not new ideas for you, but my son loved his little set of plastic keys, small animals with the crinkly sounding wings, small cars with wheels (larger than matchbox for safety reasons, but small enough for his little hands), kitchen stuff like wooden spoons and plastic containers, a clean bath scrubby (have to monitor carefully to keep out of his mouth ... but the texture was fascinating to him), tubes from paper towels, etc. Something he had never seen/felt before took his mind off the fact that he was on his tummy ... which he did NOT like! |

you've probably tried this but a mirror that you can prop in front of him.
Also you might try propping him on the boppy and put something really tempting (like your cell phone?) in front of him so he can practice pushing up on his arms. You can also help him practice putting weight on his arms by supporting him in a 'plank' or 'push-up' position. When my DS first started rolling from back to stomach, he did it on the bed. He was rolling toward us because the bed was slanted due to our weight. So you might practice tummy time on the bed to give him that little advantage to practice rolling over. |
