Notre Dame for non-Catholic - What do you think?

Anonymous
DS really caught up with the Notre Dame mania and would love to attend if accepted.

But we're not Catholic. Any Notre Dame alums or families with kids there who are not Catholic. What was the experience like?

Notre Dame is barely considered a Catholic university by more traditional Catholics, so I'm guessing they'll be fine. We are Catholic, and it's very low on my list of schools I hope my kids end up choosing. At ND there's lots of school spirit, which is a lot of fun, and they do have some nice rules (well, I think they're nice) regarding guys/girls in dorms late at night and the like, and the guys there seem more respectful of women in general than the ones at my Top 10 University were. If we weren't Catholic, I'd actually consider it more than I am now.

I don't know. The sexual assault articles and the cult of football would turn me off. Also, from knowing some of my friends in school there when I was in college, the parietals really had an effect on relationships and how they viewed the opposite sex. I was too liberal then and am certainly too liberal now to consider it.
