My LO is leaving the PEP Program and moving to K next year. We are searching all our options. My LO is not talking yet, but is great with a Springboard Lite. I'd heard there is an ACC program he could enter, but I don't know a thing about it and can't find it online. Can anyone tell me more or if they've had experience in a Montgomery County program with ACC's?
Thanks in advance !! |
| There are two AAC kindergartens, one at Cannon Road, one at Beall. If your child is involved with Interact, they should be able to give you tons of info. |
| Yes! That's what I'm looking for. My kiddo is involved with Interact but I've not heard a thing about this (go figure). Can anyone tell me about either of these? Experiences? Links? I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks, PP. |
| OP, just based on personal experience in dealing with the MoCo bureaucracy, I would contact your coordinator and start asking about the AAC program for next year. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. |
| Thank you. I will. |

This is strange. DD is in AAC at Cannon Road (great program) and we began receiving info as soon as her second year in PEP that they were considering it for her.
Cannon Road is the stronger program, with an award winning teacher. Beall has had several different teachers for the last several years. There is also a program at Carl Sandburg but I'm not familiar with it. The program is K-2 with inclusion for Math and Social Studies. You should definitely visit it. |
| Thank you. Thank you, PP. Our coordinator has not been forthcoming or is actually clueless. Therefore, I find myself doing all the legwork to figure out what is out there. I definitely want to visit this program. I heard Carl Sandberg is great- although has behavioral issues within the cohort? Again, thanks to all who posted. |
