8-month old vomits after eating distasteful food

Peas, avocado, mashed potatoes, toast, green beans - anything I give him that has a little bit of texture or that isn't sweet like fruit really upsets him. He grimaces, gags, and then throws up. He doesn't even like cereal anymore. I really want to start expanding his diet, but this is really frustrating and worrisome. Anyone else have this problem? We see the Ped. in a couple weeks for his 9-month appt, so I will ask them, but I'm hoping for some additional advice or tips. TIA

It sounds like he has a very sensitive gag reflex.
