I'm looking for either a healthy treat or a foreign treat (like dulce de leche). Where would I find international candies that have no ties to Chinese dairy? Or if you have a healthy treat idea, pass it on!

I'm not sure what the best source is in NOVA, but last night we went to a Mexican grocery store here in Colorado and they had tons of candy I'd never seen before.

For european treats, Cost Plus/World Market always has fun holiday candies.

World Market, stickers, chinese fans... we actually buy full size candy bars at Costco. The neighborhood kids love it!

There is one at Bailey's Crossroads--by the TJ Maxx if I remember correctly (it's been a while).

Also Pentagon Row.

Some Mexican candy has been known to have lead in the wrappers. It's supposed to be safe, but I personally wouldn't trust it.

If that's what you're giving to Trick-or-Treaters, you will rank right up there in the neighborhood with the old lady who gives out pennies.

why? Dulce de leches are sooo yummy. I have a bunch of Filipino candy too that I have to control myself around. There are also several foreign families on my block. I'm sure those trick-or-treaters will have enough American candy for the next few months.

But really, I was planning to give them to my students....healthy and/or foreign treats go with the whole international fitness theme of my classes.
