thinking of doing an addition to my house and wondering the best way to handle ...
Side definitely looks nicer.
I prefer side but if I had to do a front entrance, I would avoid those super, steep garages.
Side. Definitely.
Side looks better, but can be a pain in the ass to actually park in if you don't have a lot of room to maneuver outside the garage.
Doesn't everybody prefer side if their lot can fit it properly?
this is the OP. distance to the lot line is an issue actually. I would maybe have 25 feet to turn ....
Have seen several renovations in our neighborhood with side garage - to a strict code (county and local municipality), but they don't get used. Worst ones are the basement sides. they all look nice, but seem to have ended up being just storage.
Some of the side can be pain to turn into , it really depends on the lot. I would rather not build my house around the garage but tastefully design the front.
Detached for me, if there's room on the lot.
Side!! Front is so unattractive, especially if you ever leave your garage door opened.
I don't think detached looks good with a colonial. And are you really going to want to walk out in the cold or rain to your car? if so,what is the point of a garage? |
Front reminds me of a giant mouth. Definitely side.
+1 |
Side!!! Obviously if it doesn't work for your home it doesn't, but it is aesthetically far more pleasing.
