OP. is your child's DC One Card in working order? My son's DC One Card suddenly stopped working overnight in November, and we had to have it replaced. He came home using his DC One Card one day from school, and the next morning when he went to school the DC One Card wouldn't work on the bus or at the metro station. Just stopped working for no reason. I guess the chip went bad even though it was only a year old. He never bent it or did anything to it as it was in the hard plastic case. If you know for sure that the card is working, say the metro station machine recognizes it, then I guess you'd have to make a trip to the Metro Center unfortunately. Make sure to bring the eligibility letter with you in case they ask for it so you don't waste your trip there. What a pain in the rear, isn't it? And even if the card stops working for no reason, you'd still have to pay $5 to your school to have it replaced, and it takes about a week to get your new card. It became such a turmoil for us - I reported the damage to SmarTrip but they didn't give us the prorated balance back (2 wks' worth of monthly student pass). While we were waiting for the new card, we had to pay cash to use Metro which amounted to quite bit of money. I wasn't very happy but such is life......
