Hilaria Baldwin - At it again

I find it interesting that no one has yet commented on the fact that her mother is an OB/GYN and she has had multiple children. It strikes me as a way to get her mother to take interest in her. It also happens to be something that she has found a way to monetize.

I thought her mom was an internist.

Yep.

Someone posted that Vanity Fair edition from Spain posted an article calling her out: www.revistavanityfair.es/sociedad/celebrities/articulos/mujer-alec-baldwin-hilaria-espanola-mentira-mallorca-boston-origenes-padres/48199/amp
Good article stating how appalling it is her faking to be Spanish. They write:

Pero siempre había algo que chirriaba: incluso en 2014, en una entrevista para la edición española de Vanity Fair, esa Hilaria "se negaba a dar o confirmar ningún dato biográfico, más allá de anécdotas elegidas con cuidado"

It translates to roughly:
There was always something to squeak about: including in 2014, in an interview for this edition of Vanity Fair, that Hilaria, “denied to give or confirm any biographical data besides carefully chosen anecdotes.”

She's obviously problematic, but this take is also problematic.

She's a yoga teacher. Is that being a huge under-achiever? I feel like society needs to value things other than just making money. That's pretty much how we in the US measure people's worth--by how much money they make. Being a yoga teacher and opening a studio is a worthwhile occupation. Sad that she feels the need to lie.

DP. I agree it's a worthy profession, but as someone in these high-achieving circles (spouse and I are PhD/MD couple), there's a lot of pressure on the kids to have at least similar levels of achievement. I don't think it's right, but the pressure is there. I'm sure she's been asked in her younger life whether she was applying to medical or law school.

Um, welcome to most Asian families. We were constantly asked if we were going to be engineers, lawyers or doctors. You don’t see us making random things up to help us cope with that pressure. That is some whitesplaining if I’ve ever heard it.

Why not just be who you are, even if that’s someone who loves Spain and Spanish culture and the language? That’s all fine if you like it! You don’t have to pretend to be from there. Just be you.

She's a young millennial. Mass media has brainwashed and bullied her demo that being a beautiful white girl is 'basic' 'Becky' 'Karen' 'boring' 'dorky'. Media and society now promotes and rewards persons of color. She did it because it being a POC in 2010-2020 helped advance her life.

Oh boy our white nationalist friend is back!

As a POC I am wondering where my reward and promotion is?! The best I ever got is a law firm interviewer saying “Wow! You’re an immigrant!” and making me feel very uncomfortable and I did not get the job LOL.

What do you think of when you see a white Armenian/English/American valley girl like Kimberly Kardashian? How about look at before and after Kylie Jenner pics, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Amber Rose? They are ALL appropriating another culture, all of them.

I think they are lucky to have a choice. I don’t get to choose whether people see me as a POC. Sometimes that is all they see, not that I am an accomplished attorney who graduated from some of the best schools in the country.

Okay, so she was a single 24-25 year old. She was still privileged and still chose to live a lie.

The Black and Hispanic women on Lipstick Alley are all saying the same thing. Hillary did this because being a POC (fake or otherwise) is 'in'. Their words.

PP here. Spouse and I are black, actually. Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving her a pass--I think it's definitely a sign of white privilege that instead of just expressing appreciation for a culture, the Rachel Dolezals, Hilaria Baldwins, and Jessica Krugs of the world actually "pretend to be" what they're interested in. I think you add some parental pressure to the mix and voila, you've got a decade of a false persona.

You're talking about a 36-year-old married mother of 5, not a 15-year-old girl trying to build a following on Tik Tok.

And "helped advance her life"???? She was the daughter of a lawyer and a doctor who went to NYU after graduating from a $65,000 per year high school. Stop acting like she's a victim or was looking for a way out of poverty. She's the very definition of privilege.

But, she was a young 24-25 when this identity probably originated.

This is what our culture does: we infantilize white women as little damsels in distress who cannot possibly be responsible for their own actions because they are “nice girls.” When is the last time you heard a controversial black woman being excused because she is a “nice girl?”

I'm Indian. A lot of Indian and Chinese lie about coming from nothing and exploit affirmative action programs when they're actually high-caste and grew up with a house of 'staff' they treated like slaves.

They are all profiting off of cultural appropriation, big time. Kimberly Kardashian claims her spice is due to her Armenian roots, really girl? Really? What if all those women kept their original skin color, original body parts, original voices, etc. would there be profit in that? Nope

Are they pretending not to be Indian or Chinese?

If you want to start a topic on the Kardashian family, feel free. This thread is about Hilaria Baldwin pretending to be a Spanish person.

I don’t want to explain this again so please read it carefully:

I am not Kim Kardashian and I get nothing but disrespect in my profession for being a woman of color. It does not benefit me and I don’t care that it benefits someone who made her name by publishing a sex tape. That’s not something that helps regular women.
