Would you do it?
Background: I forgot my milk storage bottles today, and as I was already an hour overdue for pumping, I improvised and pumped into paper cups from our beverage station at work. Of course, since I was overdue to pump, I had a really good session and got more ounces than usual. As I have a pretty meager freezer supply of BM, I'm inclined to keep it. I'm going to go get some ziploc bags to use for my next pumping session, so I would have something secure to transport the milk home in. I tend to have an anything goes sort of attitude for myself when it comes to things like this, but since this involves my kid, I thought I'd make sure my instincts were reasonable ... |
| i would use it. I've also used emptied water bottles to store milk at work when I forgot my storage bags or extra bottles. I always leave 2 extra bottles at work but there have been plenty of times I was missing a top or something... |
| Save that liquid gold! You'll be fine temporally storing it in the cups to freeze later. Just make sure you keep it cold until you get it home. |

Use it, why not? The cups are clean, right? The only reason bags/bottles are used is because they are more convenient and attach better, but that is not to say cups can be substitutes.
I've pumped into empty water bottles and one time on a long car trip I pumped into my travel mug (had to dump though because of the coffee residue). |
| Great, thanks! I can never tell if I'm playing it too fast and loose on things like this ... |
| I've done this into plastic cups and then poured them into a water bottle that I got from the hot dog guy on the corner. I dumped the water and then poured my milk into it - no biggie. |
