Marriage certificate ... what did you submit?

Anonymous
Hi DC locals,

I'm wondering what you all submitted to your insurance company as proof of marriage. We can submit a copy of our signed certificate tomorrow but getting an official copy from the courthouse will take longer and we really are hoping to get this cycle going.

Anyone remember what you did?

I just gave the doctor's office our copy of the marriage license. They made a copy and sent it to the insurance company.

Thanks 16:13. We'll start with that tomorrow and hope it's enough.

Lately, I'm feeling like the bumps in the road are harder to face as they keep creeping up with increased frequency. Hopefully this won't be one more!

Can I ask why you need to submit a marriage certificate to your insurance company?

19:49 ... I am the OP. Below is a thread I started a month or so ago that explains more. In short, federal plans require you be married before IVF coverage will even be considered.

My SO and I have been trying for well over the required amount of time and have 7 failed cycles with my clinic. Yet I am still afraid that Aetna will see we were only recently married and call that not good enough. Since we are having a wedding in April regardless, we were both happy enough to make it official early and end the process with no regrets. But I'll let anyone who is interested know how it all plays out in the end.
