Are Feds going to be off on New Year's Eve?

Has this ever happened?

Why are you even asking this? Why on earth?
Anonymous
No. Hasn't happened. Won't happen. Next question?
Anonymous
not off- but I would expect an hour or 2 of early release.
Anonymous
Nope, never happened and it won't happen. Sorry

Maybe in 2014, if we are furloughed.

No, nor will any regular company. Entitled Feds FTW!

It has happened. The last time we got the Monday before Christmas, we also got the Monday before New Year's. I would say it's a possibility.

Have they started a petition for this yet?

There's no word from the White House yet, but it's not very often that federal workers get an extra day off before or after New Year's Day.

I don't think the OP is a Fed...she seems a little too clueless about the civil service. I think she's a non-fed who was just curious.

I hope not. Our daycare closes when the gov't closes, but as a non-Fed, I still have to work. The last-minute announcements are killing me.

My agency announced two hour early dismissal for Christmas Eve and NYE before Obama signed the executive order. I bet they wish they could take back that early dismissal for NYE now.
