| Do you live there now? What is it like? Young families? Lots of singles? Are there neighborhood activities? Do you like it there? |
| We have friends there and they absolutely love it. Many young families and a good mix of SAHM and working moms. |

I used to live their for 10 years.
It's one of the best places to live in all of the DC Metropolitan area. Walkable to two metros in most places. Walkable to Old Town (although a long walk). The only real drawback you hear about is that it's Alexandria City Public Schools. But more people are ok with the elementary schools than used to be. And a lot of people go private. We moved to Arlington when our kids got to be school aged and still miss the Rosemont area. Another good neighborhood to consider is George Washington Park. It's basically on the other side of King Street from Rosemont. |
| We live in Rosemont now and love it. Moved from Del Ray to get zoned into Maury rather than MVCS. We like being able to walk to both Del Ray and to Old Town, and we're 4 blocks from the Metro. Tons of young families, and pretty affordable as this area goes. |
| Delightful area, but we moved from there to Fairfax County once our kids were school-aged. ACPS middle schools are a disaster. My sis in Del Ray had to pull her kids and put them in parochial school once they hit 6th/7th grade. |
Is Maury considered to be better than MVCS? I am currently living in an area zoned for Maury and trying to figure out what to do with my daughter once she is ready for K. OP, I love the Rosemont area. I currently live in an adjacent neighborhood. Rosemont has such a great community feel and the houses seem a little bigger and with more yard than in some other spots in and around Alexandria City. |
No, it's not a matter of "better." Maury has a traditional calendar and MVCS is year-round. Both are adequate schools. |
