Dessert for Christmas Luncheon

Anonymous
I have been charged with bringing dessert to my brother's house for a Christmas luncheon. What kinds of desserts say "Christmas" to you? Thanks for your suggestions.

Tiramisu, a festive trifle, pound cake with raspberries and cream, pot de creme, apricot bourbon cake.
Tell us about the size, scale and details of the event. I'm the usual dessert person on both sides of the family so I have a lot of experience in this realm.

Here's a recent thread about bakeries that carry Buche de Noels. Most of the them were NoVA b/c that's what the OP was asking about.

Buche de Noel - I make mine, it's not that hard.

Other options - rum cake, chocolate/raspberry cake.

It's a casual luncheon with about 15 close family members. We are not fancy but do enjoy good food thanks to an aunt who is an excellent cook.

I'd bring sugar cookies decorated with red and green sugar, and peppermint brownies.

All these suggestions sound delicious; we usually do buche Noel and Christmas cookies, but my cousin's wife does trifle and that's always a big hit. I have to say, though, that the Trader Joe's ads for peppermint Baked Alaska are really whetting my appetite -- and I'm not even a big TJ's fan.

Pomegranate cheesecake, brownies with peppermint Hershey's kisses and ice cream. That's what we're having.

Are you the OP? And if so, do you need a suggestion other than trifle, buche de Noel and cookies?
