CTY again?

Anonymous
Hi all. I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere, but bear with me.

My child will be in 6th grade next year. He qualified when he was tested years ago, and I am the poster from a prior thread that said all the programs look wonderful and we can't afford any of them.

If you were me, would you bother having your child re-test? The money picture is looking up a bit.

Are you sure he needs to re-test? I thought they didn't need to test again until 7th grade, but my memory may be a bit hazy on this.

CTY programs are very expensive. There are lots of other worthwhile education programs that don't cost as much and don't require testing. Save your money and find out what your child is really interested in learning.

Call them and ask if it requires retesting first. I must say the two kids I know who have gone have absolutely LOVED it. I'd explore it more, but that doesn't mean you have to commit.

I say re-test. It will give you an updated idea of how your child is doing (on these types of things, only so much as that matters, which is probably very little).

you do need a re-test.
the program that stops at 6th grade required the SCAT
then for 7th and avbove they want the SAT.

We never did any of the programs but had DS retest every year for the practice. It helped immensely when it came to the SAT. His scores were very very high and I think it was due to continued practice.
