Best school for foreign language if not WIS?

Anonymous
If a parent wants a top private school that isn't WIS, but does want the child to learn a second language and about other cultures, what are the best options? Is one of the schools known for doing a particularly good job?

Look at New Hope Academy in Landover........They offer Korean and Spanish.

Based solely on what I have read, Beauvoir seems to focus on this as well. Spanish is the only language offered though.

New Hope Academy starts their language instruction in Kindergarten. They expose children to both languages in alternating semesters.
In older grades, they alternate years...

OP here -- any others in DC or very close in? I don't think I can get to Landover on a daily basis.

I've never heard of this school. I'll google it, but if you have any additional info to share, please do.

OP here -- I guess I was looking to compare the usual suspects among the private schools but with a language/cultural focus. (We want DC to be on track for a top high school, but noticed that at one very popular school, there was no language program at all for the early years).

So far, I see that Beauvoir has a good Spanish program. Would a kindergartner have Spanish five days a week? How do they get the exposure necessary to train their ear and make it more than memorizing vocabulary? We want some compromise between total immersion and a token gesture.

Beauvoir also offers chinese in the enrichment programs.

What's wrong with WIS?

To be honest, unless it's an immersion program, your child will not be fluent. Most of the programs touted by top schools are really not that good. That's why one popular school does not even offer it.

If the "best" schools aren't focusing on foreign languages, your child won't be at any disadvantage for being "on track for a top high school," right?

I wasn't assuming that none of the best schools have language programs. I was asking which one had the best. Also, nothing wrong with WIS. It just seemed a little rigid for our child, and the educational consultant I spoke to said that she thought it would be also.
