I have had regular but long cycles (33-35 days) all my life. A year ago we started TTC and suddenly my cycle became very irregular. I had a workup with my GYN who ruled out PCOS, and then an initial infertility workup with an RE (bloodwork, HSG, sperm analysis for DH). Everything came back normal, so my RE concluded that it was idiopathic. We were offered a choice between Clomid w/ timed intercourse, and IVF. We decided to try Clomid but to my surprise I found myself pregnant. I had one normal-length cycle (what I consider normal for me before they became irregular) the month before I got pregnant. I didn't track ovulation in any way.
Unfortunately, I didn't stay pregnant. I had a miscarriage two weeks ago. Went in for an 8-week appointment, found no heartbeat, took Cytotec. I had a follow-up appointment this week and the sonogram was normal. My doctor said I didn't need any bloodwork either because I wasn't bleeding any more and the tissue had all passed from my body. She says it could take 6-8 weeks for me to get a period, but of course in my case it's hard to predict what will happen since my cycles have been so irregular for a year now. Would anyone care to share their experience with this? If you had irregular cycles before a miscarriage, did they return within the 6-8 week mark? And did they continue to be irregular? Apparently miscarriage can sometimes reset a woman's hormonal clock, so I'm curious to know what others have found. Thanks in advance. |
