CC is one of the best youth coaches I. The country. He also is in charge of the clubs development. His skill in assembling teams is unequaled He brought BRSc the GA and that ultimately resulted in. Bring them Mlsnext. There's a lot going on in the industry and it's evolving rapidly.

Agree. 4 teams mid-table (6 or 7 of 14), 1 team top of the table, and 1 team bottom of the table. Last year’s girls teams were just as bad as this year’s boys teams, but they made enormous progress this year with the introduction of GA. Sure, that was fast forwarded by taking on big parts of FCV, but I suspect the boys teams will make similar progress over next 2-3 years.

The GA teams are all brand new players and coaches. The girls Black teams are still there and are still bad. There are no GA players from the Black teams. The same will happen on the boys side. The new MLS tier 2 teams will not be made up from current VRSC players, but newly recruited players. It's great progress for the club but don't credit player development for anything. It's all from recruiting of new players and coaches.

So WHATS EXACTLY is VRSC or what does IT OFFER different from say NVA, SYC, FVU or Arlington or Alexandria?

Nothing different honestly. Also, not all GA players are new. That's fake news.

Confirmed fake news. But it’s also fake news that the best players are from old VRSC black teams, unless you’re talking about the U19 and possibly U17 teams, which have fewer FCV players.

At this point, it doesn’t matter where the GA players came from, they’re all VRSC now. But that inaugural season recruiting hstory is instructive of what will need to happen on the MLSN2 side for them to achieve the kind of success the GA teams have this year.

Good grief when are you all going to get past this crap of Jim buying everyone off and buying league spots. Face it VRSC did what MLS asked them to do to get teir 2. Also, not all the boys teams are at the bottom in NCSL. Have you looked at the 09B Black team playing up an age group and at the top of U17 D1? There is talent at VRSC but absolutely none of the haters are going to ever admit it.

They only lay NCSL in the spring. The season just started and they are playing up an age group in the top division, give them a break and some credit or is that asking too much. Oh, right you’re a hater so it is.

The problem with these exchanges is that you’re starting at two entirely different points of reference. The MLSN/ECNL/GA dad’s kid is playing on a team that might be top 20 in the country and probably is at least somewhere in the top 100, while the NCSL dad’s kid is playing on a team that might break the top 1000 and might not even be top 2000. Both teams may have very similar success in their league games and tournaments in terms of wins and losses, but they are playing entirely different games.

Incidentally, the 2009 black team is over-performing relative to most Rev boys teams because they have an exceptional coach.

Someone earlier in this thread asked what’s different about Rev. Besides the quality of the home complex, I’d say the quality of a number of their coaches. Their GA staff (which next season will include that 2009 boys coach) is arguably the best girls staff in the DMV. The fact that they’re coaching teams well below their level is indicative of their belief that Rev is building something worth being a part of.

You're right, they have a fabulous coach! He will continue to do great things with this team and with the GA team next fall. I wouldn't say the boys on that team are over-performing; they are performing with the coaching that is bringing out the skills that they have. He will do the same with the girls' team. You are right, the coaches that Revolution has are a good group of coaches. They have a great lineup of coaches for GA, and they are on track to have the same for the MLSNext 2 teams.

CC has had most of the girls on the 2009 team for five years. It’s too bad their isn’t more coaches like him at VRSC. If I had to choose between BP and CC, I am going with CC. BP gets a lot of hate but in the end he is an excellent coach. CC is more genuine and his players respect him.

Another plus is MP who has been doing a wonderful job working with college coaches and promoting players.

VRSC probably has the best facilities of any club in the DMV.

GA is going to be much less travel with the new additions as compared to ECNL.

You can have a beer if you have to sit at practice.

Well funded and driven to succeed.

CONS:
VRSC is in need of another good coach!

GA is not nearly as competitive as ECNL. Top GA teams can struggle against lower table ECNL teams.

Harder to be recruited even on a top team especially if DD is not one of the top players.

Expensive club dues.

The track record for recruiting will favor VRSC girls going forward. LS hurt the girls programs to favor the boys Program. The legacy fcv girls are mostly the best players...VRSC players don't come close.. VDA blew up their program except for the 2008 team. After this year, there won't be incentive for the 2008 team to stay together.

The success in recruiting has very little to do what league you are in. Tophat gets almost every player recruited D1 and they are ga. They beat LS and VDa hands down every year

CC has only had about half the team from FCV. The rest are from various other clubs. The 09 team did well despite the weak players.

VRSC’s 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, and 2009 GA and Pre-GA teams are all ranked inside the top 200 nationally per the Rankings app. That’s still a long way off the top 50, which is where FCV’s teams routinely lived (and where nearly all ECNL teams are), but it’s miles better than nearly all DMV ECNLR teams and light years ahead of where VRSC’s black team were a year ago. If they add even just a couple of solid players to each of those teams (who will replace the bottom players on the current team) for next season, they will take another step forward, particularly with the upgrade in next year’s GA coaching slate (NE and ED, who deserve credit for the above, replaced with JU and more MJ, who are more experienced international coaches). VRSC’s trajectory is crystal clear for anyone willing to open their eyes.

PP said that ga was inferior to ECNL, yet many ga clubs out place all of the ECNL clubs in NOVA. Why is that if ECNL league is so great.

Just a uniformed parent. Uses a single team as an example. If you want to go that way, VRSC (Top of GA Table) lost to Bethesda 2009s 2-0 (Bottom of NA ECNL Table) earlier this year. Not a good look.

I am a VRSC parent and even I know ECNL is better competition but I would rather my DD in an atmosphere she enjoys.

It’s not like 10 or 20 kids from each age in this area are going to go pro! Most of the top kids will only get partial scholarships even in ECNL. Most of the ECNL teams in our area aren’t really that good except VDA and a random year or two at other ECNL Clubs.

Environment over badge. Education over soccer. Geesh.
