Validity of hormone tests - hormones are so unstable

Anonymous
I asked my Gyn for one (test) and she asked if I really wanted one to discover- what? Then do what? She said my hormones would be/ are up and down daily during perimenopause/ menopause. I am in menopause due to chemo. My emotions are stable it's the irritability that drives me nuts at times. I didn't want to go on hormone replacement so there was that factor that is unless the test proved needed.

Those who have gone through these tests, what was your outcome. Did you get tested daily?

I haven't been in your shoes-- I'm sorry about your chemo.
As part of fertility testing my ob/gyn had me do a full length cycle hormone test- which involved spitting into tubes on various days throughout the cycle.
He felt like this provided the most accurate information about what was going on hormone wise.
I used to have really bad PMS type emotional symptoms-- which I was able to treat fairly successfully with optivite (might be optivate- I don't have the bottle in front of me)PMT.
I don't know if that would help in your situation.
