Hi! I guess I am just posting here for a little encouragement and/or inspiration from others.... While I frequent and respond to MANY of the forums/threads on DCUM- This is only my 2nd thread as the OP.
I am 44 and have been TTC as a single woman w/ multiple IVF's/IUI's & donor sperm over the past 5 years! I have never even had a single BFP. The only reason I am continuing despite the dismal odds is that I have a "free" cycle. I am also simultaneously actively persuing adoption (which I am thrilled about.) I just want to be at peace knowing I did EVERYTHING I could to conceive and feel "good/proud" of that. Fast forward to about 1 year ago....I began attempting NCIVF (previous cycles were all stimulated.) In that time- All cycles were cancelled due to FSH/estrogen levels and early ovulation (before ganarelix would have been appropriate because follicles were too small at that point.) Well- today is CD12 and everything WAS going great! My body was doing what it was "supposed" to naturally. I was monitored VERY closely (3 mornings in a row) and "if" all went well I would have likely triggered tonight. However- I went in this morning and my follicles grew 3mm from 15 (yesterday) to 18 (today) and bloodwork confirmed I was surging
Life goes on...And I will try against next month (despite the odds) and diligently continue w/ the arduous adoption process and keep the faith that I will "get" the little one I am meant to have. Thanks for reading and best of luck to everyone. |

I'm sorry OP. I do think you've fought the good fight and some times it's just not going to work out. But I hope adoption works out for you. (I did over 20 medicated cycles and didn't get a single BFP either, but have a beautiful child thanks to DE.)
Do be gentle with yourself. |
OP here. Thanks for your response and congratulations on your child! Were the cycles a combo of IUI/IVF? How many years did you give it before turning to DE? How old were you at the time? Which clinic/RE did you go to? Inquiring minds want to know

| OP hugs to you. This happened to 2x. I tried modified ncivf where I took meopur and ganrilex for 4 days to control ovulation. Good luck to you on your journey. |
I was in my 40s and never did IVF, just IUIs and timed intercourse. I tried for 3 years. I was with Dr Sacks at Columbia Fertility, since Shady Grove wouldn't work with me. I really appreciated that he gave me the chance to try (and try and try), even though it didn't work. I so hope for success for you. |

OP - I had seven IUI's and my numbers were great and never got the BFP. Signed up for adoption at the same time and because we went for a sibling set it went fast. I just still ache. I love my children and adoption was in the plan way before we knew of any fertility problem. It is hard to grieve when you have the adoption blessing.
My advice is give time for one to truly be completed before you jump. |
| OP here. PP- Where did you adopt from? Being that I am single, my options are VERY limited. I want to persue International, and that pretty much leaves me with only Russia. How old were your children when you adopted them? So glad it worked for you. |
| I adopted through foster care. They were 5 and 2. |
| Thanks for everyone's responses. Good luck to you all =) |

OP, I am single, in my 40s, trying for 1 1/2 years now, two miscarriages, moving on to donor egg.
I hope that we are both holding our children in 2013. |
| Hi PP. OP here. How old were you when you started TTC? How many IUI/IVF treatments? Which clinic/RE? Sorry about the miscarriages. Best of luck to you (and me!) Like me- Would you consider adoption? |
| Good luck to you! I am am SMC too. |
Thx! I get that "S" is for single...but what
does "M" and "C" stand for? Good luck to you! |
| Just figured it out! Single mom by choice!!! |
