Style versus comfort: comfort is winning...help!

I used to love to dress stylishly. My MIL dressed in style until she was 75. But now I am size 12, things don't look that great, but more importantly, I just keep choosing comfort over style. Even when I should be dressed up (fancy dinner, theatre, ect) I still will go for comfort. Is that becoming an old lady? Anyone solved this problem? Stores? Looks? TIA.

I have the same problem! Try Chicos, very comfortable. Some patterns/cloths too old looking, but others are good. You can always go for a classic style.

I try to avoid running shoes/sneakers unless I am exercising. Just too "retirement" on an older person. Not the same on someone in their 20s.

Same issue here. It took me a long time to lose my baby weight. Went for comfort during those years. Then lost 40 pounds with Weight Watchers. Started feeling great and dressing stylishly again. Now that weight is creeping back up, I'm back to my comfy clothes. Probably will not return to dressing nice unless I can get some of this weight off.

You think weight is the problem? I wonder if the other issues with weight also contribute to this -- out of shape, hurty feet, clothes do not look that good in plus size, etc. What do you think?

Ask yourself if you are depressed or even just in a funk. It is hard to care much about your appearance if you are feeling down. Yet putting some effort into it and liking the results can help your mood.

Might be time to develop a new personal style that is comfortable as well as "stylish". Part of that will be finding what cuts and brands are most flattering for the figure you have. Part of it is also finding ways to add pizzazz, be it jewelry, scarves, jackets, fun shoes, and still be comfortable.
