If Your HHI in NoVa is 250k Where Do You Live?

Stole this idea from another poster

I'm a SAHM and DH has a steady job with good benefits that pays $250. We don't feel like we can afford anything in nova and rent an apartment. But then again, we are very frugal...maybe people just spend a bigger percentage of this paycheck on housing than we do. So I'd love to hear--what is your HHI, where did you choose to live and what did you spend?

We lived in Burke when we were in Nova

North Arlington. We spent $800K. We had a sizeable downpayment from the sale of our old house and savings so our mortgage is easily manageable.

Falls Church, McLean schools section, $660k on house with 25% down payment.

N. Arlington. Bought in 2006 for $590,000. Our house is not fancy by any means, but it is a great neighborhood and so close to D.C.

N Arlington, nought house 13 years ago, before kids for 265. Never could afford it now.

Ditto here for Annandale just outside the beltway. We spent too much at height of market in (2005-650k with big down payment) but houses like ours now go for 525-600 ish. Great schools, good bus to pentagon, safe, centrally located. We are at 250 now, but only 200 when we bought.

Wow, you all are incredibly disciplined. We took out a $530K mortgage when we were making $125K.
