I love this house in N. Arlington. What do you think?

Like the house. Is the Larchmont neighborhood neighborly?

I saw that the other day and I like it too. I wonder if the slate driveway would be expensive/difficult to maintain?

Like the exterior a lot; think the interior renovations are very tacky. But, someone else seems to be OK with it.

Where do you store things in the bathroom? Unless I missed linen closets. I'm not a fan of pedestal sinks. Also, odd to have tile (marble?) floor in an 'exercise' room.

but it's pretty.

I can't believe that house was only 1million actually...

There has to be a catch. $1m seems way too low, even with some of the odd choices. What am I missing?

Larchmont is a lovely neighborhood (we have friends on 16th St), but personally I think that house is ugly. Guess I am not a fan of French Country style. I don't like the front door and I hate the window in the center top of the house.

It's a potential short sale. It was also built in 1939 and then obviously expanded and renovated. So, who know how the actual structure of the house has held up.

That's a pretty nice house, and big for the neighborhood. $1M does seem low, actually. Larchmont is between Ballston and Westover, so it's a pretty good location and there are some nice homes. We couldn't find anything we liked in our range there.

Whether it's to your taste or not, $1M seems incredibly low. Honestly makes me wonder what's wrong with it.

The house is a short sale. Most recently it was on the market at $1.3 million. It has been on as high as $2 million. The owner did lots of bad renovations to a great house.

I am usually a defender of houses on here. But that is painfully ugly. Why did they tile the whole house?

Agent here. They paid $850K in 2002 and did a shitload of renovations to it and are now underwater. I think this is a teaser list price - nowhere near what the bank will accept but they just needed an offer to get the process started. OP, keep an eye on it because contracts on short sales fall through all the time. For this one, the contingency for bank approval runs six months, though - that's a long time.

Unfortunately most of the work was poorly done. This house has been rented for several years and the owner has his own house on the market in country Club Hills for $2 million. He is Russian and has a lot in common with Tony Soprano
