gestational diabetes and stress

Anonymous
Have been using insulin since getting diagnosed about three weeks ago. I'm at 34 weeks. I'm trying to wrap up a stressful project at work, and since I know stress impacts blood sugar, I'm worried about my numbers. Trying to reach my endocrinologist (sp?) and have an OB checkup Wednesday, but until then, needed some help/reassurance here. Ketones are also high the last few days....
Basically, I feel like I'm just out of control here, even though I'm staying within my dietary requirements from the nutritionist, taking insulin, etc. Haven't exercised the last week or so because of an awful cold that has me feeling more exhausted than I already was (the toddler has something to do with that too I'm sure. I'm just worried about the baby and am looking for some positive experiences or suggestions...thanks.

Hang in there! I'm 22 weeks and also on insulin, and everyone has bad days. My blood glucose (and need for extra insulin) went way up when I was sick a few weeks ago, so that could be contributing. Get some rest--take a sick day if possible. Sleep could be just what the doctor ordered. Remember that it is your glucose level over time that matters, not a bad number or two.
