| My husband invited his boss and family over for dinner on Saturday night. We normally do pretty low-key entertaining, and I try to do something interactive like a Japanese hot pot or make your own pizza. Well, apparently my husband wants to impress his boss, as he's requested cassoulet for dinner. I have a great, easy crock pot cassoulet that I make, but my husband wants a more traditional cassoulet with duck in it. Anyone have a cassoulet recipe that they've used and love? |
| I use the Pam Anderson (not that one) recipe. It's not "traditional" but my French husband loves it and everyone always thinks it was much more labor intensive then it was! |

Op here. Thanks! Is this it: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Simplified-Cassoulet/

No, I use this one: http://www.merrygourmet.com/2011/01/pam-andersons-cassoulet-style-italian-sausages-and-white-beans/
You could sub Italian sausage for lamb sausage (though the hot Italian sausage is really delicious in this recipe). If you do decide to use it you might want to try it once beforehand. I drain the beans so its not so liquidy and the sauce is thicker. Good luck! |
Oops obviously I meant sub lamb for pork. Sorry, long day.

| Thanks!!! |
| Ah, cassoulet...the best I ever had was in a restaurant on the Ile de St. Louis. Thanks for the memory, OP and the recipe ideas. |

Wow, that's pretty specific.
I haven't made it yet, but because he's my hero, I'd use Anthony Bourdain's recipe (Les Halles cookbook). |
