34 weeks and totally exhausted

Anonymous
I'm 34 weeks and feel exhausted and unproductive, similar to the first trimester. Is this normal/common?

Yes, ma'am.

I just woke up from my 830pm cat nap on the couch. I so don't feel like making tomorrow lunch, cleaning up toys, walking the dog, folding laundry, and cooking the meat for tomorrow's dinner - I just want to veg and watch the bears' game

My doc. has been monitoring my iron levels. I've been anemic all my life and both of my preg. have really depleted my iron levels even more so I'm definitely feeling exhausted.

Just a thought in case you might be anemic too.

Just to chime in, I am at exactly the same point. More tired this time (with a toddler) than last time. And now I have a cold. This morning's washing will be ignored and am about to curl on the couch and watch tv while the toddler is at school................

just think though, only 6 more weeks to go!

I've got 10 weeks to go, but my energy level is already much lower than it was at the same time the first time around. My doc keeps telling me it's normal because I've got a toddler to chase after, but I am still bummed. I certainly have been letting my daughter watch more cartoons than I ever had before....Oh the guilt.

I hear ya. I'm in my 37th week and this last month has been exhausting. 3rd trimester has definitely been the hardest one for me, physically.

are you sleeping much? In my case, I'm exhausted because I can't sleep more than a few hours at a time. It's tough to get to sleep in the first place due to acid reflux and not being able find a comfortable position, then I wake up to pee about every 3 hours. and sometimes when i'm just finally dropping off to sleep or going back to sleep, baby wakes up and starts doing gymnastics in there, which keeps me awake.

i've also gained a ton of weight, so i think hauling around an extra 43 pounds has something to do with exhaustion.

but yeah, i can sympathize. good luck! (and don't feel too guilty about letting your toddler watch too much TV. we can't be perfect all the time. i'm sure you're a great mom otherwise.)

I, too, am feeling the exhaustion. I am at 34 weeks and have been caffeine free through the whole pregnancy, and now I can't get through a day of work unless I add a little regular coffee to my morning decaf. And I hadn't had any real problems with energy this whole pregnancy until about a week ago.

New mom here-

I remember feeling like a freight train hit me at 34 weeks! I thought that if the remainder of the pregnancy was like that week, I would have to take sick leave and possibly start maternity leave early. At 36 weeks, it not only passed, but I had incredible energy. It lasted until delivery. I really enjoyed that last month.

Just letting you know that pregnancy really is a week by week thing. Kind of like having a newborn. They can be very sleepy, peaceful, etc. for the first few weeks, and then they wake up and discover they are living in the outside world. You have been warned. . .

I am so glad I clicked on this...I am at 34 weeks and totally wiped out. I, too, can't sleep for more than a few hours (heartburn, peeing, too hot, baby acting like a possessed mongoose in there) and it is killing me. I work from home and am doing the bare minimum to get by. I was very tired in the first tri but at least I could sleep! I have loved being pregnant but this is not so fun.
