Luxury beach/resort destination NO KIDS

Anonymous
DH and I are finally getting away without kids. We only have 3 nights, maybe 4 so it has to be really easy to get in and out of. We're considering cancun, Virgin Islands, and maybe Puerto Rico. We are late thirties and are looking for good food (great restaurants), great relaxing pool, maybe a good local joint to listen to music in flip flops.

I loved St. Barth's but that's not that easy to get to and crazy expensive once you're there. Anything like that but slightly cheaper and easier?

Destination and specific hotel recommendations please!

This will probably be late January.

The Cove at the Atlantis.

Not Atlantis (IMHO). Maybe St. Martin? I find "good food" and "easy to get to" to be the biggest limiters for the Caribbean.

Grand Cayman. Turks and Caicos.

Parrot Cay - private island off Turks and Caicos - amazing and not a place for kids!

Iberostar Grand Rose Hall in Montego Bay, it is beautiful and kid free. There are non stop flights to Jamaica on Fridays out of BWI.

IIRC there are some nice luxury resort in/near Cancun, like Maroma or Mayakoba?

Grand Case beach in St. Martin has amazing restaurants, all within walking distance of this resort, which has lovely spots for sunbathing, relaxing and even a nice little reef that you can take a snorkeling trip to. Grand Case also has some nice bars, more casual places for taking in the sunset. Rooms are decent but not fantastic but the overall ease of relaxation and convenience is great. We spent 5 days there with no car and kids and had a lovely time.

And in St. Martin the restaurants are much more affordable if you pay in dollars (cash), which most allow.

Thanks everyone. We're looking at St. Martin/Maarten, but I think we're leaning towards Mexico.

Is anyone familiar with the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral. It looks like it's got luxury (amazing spa) and is situated so that it's easy to leave the hotel and go to bars and restaurants elsewhere. I think of Cancun as being very college spring break-ish but I'm hoping it won't be like that at a nice resort and at that time of year.

DH also found some options in Cabo. Any have any thoughts on Cabo vs Cancun?

Peter Island.

I've never been but I prefer Caribbean to Pacific and would go to Cancul or Tulum.

Cabot is PITA to get to. I wouldnt do it for 3-4 nights (and there are lots of places in the Caribbean I'd go to first if you wanted to spend all that tie in transit)
