Question about antagonist protocol

I will be put on an antagonist protocol when we try our cycle -our first cycle. I have read a bit on here about the protocol, but mostly I have read that it works well for women it's DOR or other issues that could be related to age. I do not have fsh issues or anything that we have found, and as far as we know currently, we are dealing with mfi (count and morph). Could it be weight related? I am overweight, but have lost a good bit of weight in the past 2 years and doc hasn't said anything about it related to IVF. I am 31 (32 in march), so I am wondering if it is odd for this to be my first protocol.

The nurse , when I asked, said it is probably the best way to avoid OHSS.

I am concerned it might cause fewer eggs and make it harder. To do FETs of our first cycle shouldn't work, which hopefully it will work!

I actually produced more eggs on antagonist protocol than with the Luprong stop. (15 vs 10) and of those eggs, twice as many were mature (13 vs 6). In my opinion, I was too suppressed with the lupron and the follies didn't develop as well. Each protocol is different though and they need to see how your body will react to it.

I recently had a successful cycle with the antagonist protocol at SGF. I had done long lupron (BFN) and lupron stop (BFP) previously. While I produced less eggs in the antagonist protocol than the other two (about 18 on long lupron and about 28 on lupron stop), the quality was very good and all of the embryos that fertilized made it to day 5 and they ended up freezing all but one. I also think I was oversuppressed on the bcps and lupron and really liked the antagonist protocol. I was 35 at the time I did the antagonist protocol and our issue is MFI. My doctor told me they had started using it more because it is less likely to cause overstimulation. Good luck!
